DEJIMA(出島)
Historical | Interior | Exterior
Dejima, is an enclosed 17th 〜 19th century trading post located in the center of Nagasaki City. The period Japanese and European buildings provide both interior and exterior shooting options to capture European (Dutch) influence in Japan during the Edo period. For centuries it was Japan’s only gateway to the outside world. The Dutch trading post at Dejima facilitated trade, academic exchange, and cultural interaction, bringing the latest Western knowledge, science, and medical technology to Japan. Geographically, Dejima faces Nagasaki Harbor, offering picturesque views of the port city’s beautiful scenery.
Access is also very convenient, as it is located about 5 minutes by car or tram from Nagasaki Station and just a few minutes’ walk from other major sightseeing spots in the city. The surrounding area is filled with exotic locations, such as Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown and Dutch Hill, offering a variety of potential locations for film shoots.
